Effective yesterday we entered a mandatory "Shelter in Place" order for many of us. First and foremost we should be thanking all the first responders and medical workers for their long hours and efforts to keep all of our communities and people safe. We salute you and THANK YOU! Secondly, the majority of us are "non-essential" employees and therefor will be staying home for the next 3 weeks or so. Governor Whitmer's office issued a more clarified position regarding real estate professionals and whether or not these are considered "essential." The executive order issued Monday states that real estate sales persons and brokers are not "critical infrastructure workers" and therefor may not leave their homes for work. The Michigan Realtors has interpreted this as all showings, open houses, and other client contact activities are suspended through April 13th. If you are already in the process of closing on your home, Title Companies, Appraisers, and Insurance Companies will still be open because these are considered finance/insurance services and those are allowed to continue to work.
These are definitely unprecedented times for everyone in Michigan and the Country. I want to let you know that, here at Soaring Eagle Realty, we are not going anywhere. We will continue to work through this shutdown by connecting with past clients and reaching out to potential new clients.
